Ashtavakrasana is known as “Eight limbed pose”. It literally means- Asta- Eight , Vakra is bent and Asana is pose.
This pose is dedicated to sage Astavakra. Its s said that when this great sage was in his mothers womb and his father was reciting vedas , hearing that he started laughing and was cursed by his father that he will be born crooked at eight places.
Later he got victory to his father in a philosophical battle (his father had lost it ) and was blessed by his father and all his deformities vanished.
This is intense on wrist, arms and abdomen . People having any major issue with these should take it easy.
